In a significant move to strengthen India’s internal security framework, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has received an indigenously developed AI-enabled satellite imaging system, ‘Prajna’, aimed at enhancing real-time decision support for security agencies.
The system was formally handed over by Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development, to Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan at a ceremony held at Kartavya Bhawan-3.
Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), Prajna leverages advanced artificial intelligence to analyse satellite imagery and deliver actionable, real-time intelligence. The system is expected to play a crucial role in monitoring sensitive regions, supporting counter-terrorism operations, and improving situational awareness for faster and more informed decision-making.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the deployment of Prajna will significantly enhance the operational capabilities of security agencies by enabling data-driven responses and improved coordination in critical scenarios.
The development underscores India’s continued focus on indigenous, AI-driven defence technologies to address evolving security challenges.
