Alipay launched a major AI agent upgrade, enabling its one billion users to find services more easily and execute daily tasks with the help of its AI agent interface.
The update makes Alipay the world’s first super app to evolve into an AI-native platform.
“Alipay has always pursued one goal: using technology to remove frictions from everyday services—whether it is paying bills without leaving home or booking doctor appointments without queues. Today, we continue to explore how AI can optimise the way users access services, turning AI from a productivity tool for the few into an everyday helper for the many,” said Jun Li, President of Alipay Business Group, Ant Group.
Users can access over 10,000 everyday services, from hailing rides to ordering food and booking home appliance repairs, through natural conversations after switching to the AI agent version of Alipay with a simple swipe to the right on its homepage.
For instance, when a driver says, “My car is running low on battery—find me a charging station,” “Ah Bao” can list nearby charging stations ranked by distance, showing real-time availability of fast and slow charging slots and pricing. After selecting a station, the driver simply parks and taps “Charge” — without switching between apps or pages.
The Alipay AI agent version interface features a clean and minimalist design with two service modules at the top — “Ah Bao” and “Asset”. The “Asset” page serves as an overview of the user's personal account.
The AI agent version can be accessed initially through invitation only, and will gradually be available to all users.
In addition to bringing Chinese consumers more convenient and intuitive experiences, “Ah Bao” provides a more direct entry point for merchants and brands to match their services with consumers. Alipay will also launch an agent open platform for developers, merchants, and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to help them better connect with its agent ecosystem.
